A simple project for bird lovers that they can put in their backyard to enjoy bird watching is a bird house. Frequently, home owners will construct two houses to attract multiple species of birds to their yard. You can find bird house plans for free at various bird society and nature websites.

Step by step instructions are generally included in plans outlining the process of building a specific type. Some birds will actually use another bird's nest as a home, so these types of birds could really use a home of their own. Bluebirds are one such species, and because of suburban community development their population has continued to decline since they are having a much more difficult time finding a home.

Materials

Because each species has its own needs and requirements for living, many bird house plans will be specifically designed for that species only. Plans for two different species could overlap a bit, meaning you might be able to use a plan designed for several species of small birds, while also being able to use a plan designed for several species of larger birds.

Cedar is an excellent wood to use for because it naturally repels insects. This will result in birds finding the house more attractive since they know insects will not be a disturbance.

Placement

Other instructions included in a plan could include how to attach or place one on the top of a pole or post. This is designed to make it difficult for predators to gain access a bird's home. Some of the predators include raccoons, squirrels, and cats. They will often climb a tree to get into the bird house, where they will proceed to eat the eggs that are inside.

However, when it's placed on top of a pole, predators a much less likely to be able to get to the eggs or young birds. The bird house plans will indicate how high it should be mounted, so predators can't get in while the owner can still view it in order to see the nest developing.

Bird house plans might also include the ability to open the front of the house to view the nestlings and the nesting process from beginning to end. The front of some houses are able to open on a hinge while having a clear plastic interior to leave the nest undisturbed but still allowing people to see inside.

Having a hard time finding good and inexpensive housing plans? Need a little advice to guide you through the process?Finding a suitable set of house plans can be a long and expensive process. Firstly, the selection of the architect can be enough to frustrate a new home owner from the get go. Creating house plans that incorporate a variety of different factors including the actual land restrictions, the homeowners living considerations and individual style, the cost of the construction materials and work needed, can be a nightmare. There are a number of different steps a person can take to make home building a much smoother and more enjoyable process.

1. Take the time to walk around your neighborhood and check out the different houses in your area. Seeing the types of housing plans people have used nearby should give you a good indication of certain environmental or legislative issues you need to take into consideration.

Houses in cold areas where there is a large amount of rain or snow fall tend to have elevated foundations to prevent water damage. In certain climates, houses will also have a limited number of windows to maintain insulation. Specific neighborhoods also have restrictions on how high you can build or what types of setbacks you need. Seeing other houses in the area can help alert you to these limitations.

2. Once you have an idea of the type of style you are looking for, check out sites online to see if they have pre-completed house plans that fit what you are looking for. Even if you don't end up using the plans or you choose to adapt them, it is worth your time to check out potential plans for idea inspiration. A few companies, such as Free Green, now offer full sets of completed house plans for a variety of designs.

3. After you have chosen the house plans that suit your lifestyle needs, you should meet with a construction manager to get a basic idea of how much the project should cost and how long it should take. Even if you opt not to use a construction manager, it is worth it to have at least one meeting to learn the basics.

These steps should get you on the initial track towards building the house of your dreams within a realistic budget. Good luck!

Identify your outer style - what homes styles are you drawn too? French Country, Traditional, Spanish, Cape Cod, Colonial or Craftsman. When searching for the right house plan it is important to choose one that not only meets your individual needs but also keeps in mind the style of home that is most appealing to you.

Identify how your family lives -will you need formal spaces, recreational spaces, informal spaces, indoor-outdoor spaces, Determine if you prefer a one story or a two store home. Also determine the number of bedrooms and bathrooms will you need. This will help narrow your search for the right house plans. Keep in mind the lot characteristics including dimensions, natural landscaping and future marketability of the home. Your lifestyle is a key consideration in selecting a house plan. Do you entertain frequently? Consider a formal dinning room and traditional living room for large formal entertaining. Are you nearing retirement? Consider a one story to limit stair climbing. Are you starting a family? Be sure to include enough bedrooms to allow for your expanding family. Do you love to cook? Be sure you have ample room and amenities in the kitchen to accommodate.

Walkthroughs - Walk through houses under construction in your area to see what things you like and don't like about each plan. During these walkthroughs take careful notes about what you like and don't like about the features in each home. Request floor plan samples from the various builders. Attach your notes to each floor plan so you can quickly recall the features of each house plan that you liked. Check with your local homebuilders association for the location of new home builders in your area. Visit each builder, walk their models and review their available house plans.

Careful note taking - Make a folder of ideas and pictures from magazines that you like. This will help you identify your style and keep a record of the features that you might want to incorporate into your home plan. As you perform your walkthroughs, take a camera so you can take pictures of the various homes you visit and key features of each home that you want to remember.

Search through stock home plans - Research styles and plans on the Internet. You can also purchase house plans on the web or in books at your local new or used bookstore. You should be able to get hundreds of home plans through these sources for little or no money. These house plans can be modified to meet your needs. This is a less costly way to find your dream plan. Also visit new home builders in your area. This is another great way to get great house plan ideas.

Can't find that perfect home floor plan? - Find a reputable architect who can custom design the perfect house plan for you. Make sure to research the architects in your area and visit their work if at all possible.

Building Codes - Be sure that any house plan you select complies with national and local building codes. The house plans should include necessary drawings, specifications and schedules for bidding, permits, and construction.

Once you have your dream house plan, find a reputable builder or contractor in your area. Your local Homebuilders Association should be able to help with this search.

2 Relevant Tips That Make Choosing the Right Chicken Coop Blueprints so Much Easier

Using chicken coop blueprints generally ensures that you are using tried and tested designs to enable easy direction and assembly to some really impressive and pretty amazing chicken housing. On top of that by using the step-by-step approach means that you should be quite pleasantly surprised at the finished results.

There are such a variety of coop blueprints for you to choose from that making the right selection can sometimes be difficult, but hopefully these two great tips should help provide you with a good basis in making the right choice.

By taking advantage of this associated information, I would pretty much guarantee that you should achieve some superb quality in your chicken accommodation and with minimum of fuss. When it comes to choosing the right blueprints it is important that they adopt a similar approach on their data that compliments and supports these 2 relevant tips.

Safety and Security

Your chickens will provide a tasty treat for quite a few predators and because of this they can be pretty determined to get in and help themselves. So, in order to combat this and stop those critters the deeper you can dig down and sink your fencing in the better; 6 inches is ok but, 12 inches is perfect. If you cannot build concrete footings just make sure that your wooden wall boards are treated against rot and they will do the job perfectly.

You need to make sure that the actual wire mesh that you use for fencing is the best you can get. It really does need to be proper chicken wire as, your chickens are not sensible enough to realise that sticking your head out through the holes is very likely to get it eaten if they are unlucky enough to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Also, any would be predators can chew the wire if they can get their teeth through to get a grip, so be warned.

TIP 1 CONCLUSION: Providing adequate protection for your chickens should be Top of the agenda as they cannot defend themselves against attack or intruders.

Cleaning and Maintenance

It stands to reason that the easier you make your coop to clean out the more inclined you will be to keep on top of your hygiene and maintenance. Who wants to see their chickens living in a smelly unhygienic environment anyway? You would not like it so why should it be any different for them?

If you make sure that you site the coop on slightly higher ground this will help with drainage after wet weather and of course by providing adequate ventilation this will help to keep it dry too. Another useful tip is to make sure that the main door faces south to maximise use of the sun for drying out purposes too.

If you decide to have a floor in the coop, make sure that it slopes so that water can drain easily. I personally do not recommend having one because rats and mice can get up underneath, into the housing. They not only bring disease but will eat any baby chicks if you have them.

TIP 2 CONCLUSION: Of paramount importance to keep chickens happy and more importantly in good clean health.

There is so much information easily available at the touch of a button and the above tips are just a couple of snippets I have chosen which hopefully you find helpful.

By accessing the right chicken coop blueprints to help you build your poultry housing your job will be so much easier to achieve and with the Internets huge encyclopaedia of information in relation to providing the perfect housing for your hens. All you have to do is take advantage of it.

Now you know 2 of the critical tips in choosing the right chicken house blueprints – wouldn't you want to get the rest of the actual build information right? Discover all the Secrets to raising chickens at home by taking a look at one of the most comprehensive and informative chicken related websites online.
